Before the angel Gabriel told Mary about the birth of Jesus, God sent him to Zechariah with another special message.
தேவதூதனாகிய காபிரியேல் இயேசுவின் பிறப்பைப் பற்றி மரியாளுக்கு அறிவிப்பதற்கு முன், தேவன் அவரை ஒரு சிறப்பான செய்தியுடன் சகரியாவிடம் அனுப்பினார்.
Zechariah and Elizabeth had grown old without having a child. Although their waiting had been long and difficult, they continued living faithfully before God.

At the right time, God answered their prayer and gave them a son named John.

Faith is not shown by how quickly our prayers are answered. It is shown by continuing to trust God while we wait.

Zechariah and Elizabeth lived faithfully before God. Their long wait did not stop them from obeying Him.

Zechariah continued serving as a priest. While he was serving in the temple, the angel Gabriel brought him God’s message.

Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. She understood that Mary was the mother of her Lord and rejoiced with her.

The angel Gabriel told Zechariah to name the child John. Later, both Elizabeth and Zechariah confirmed the same name.

⏳ A Long and Difficult Wait
Zechariah and Elizabeth had no child, and they had both grown old. Elizabeth also spoke about the shame she had experienced among the people.
சகரியாவுக்கும் எலிசபெத்துக்கும் பிள்ளை இல்லை. அவர்கள் இருவரும் முதிர்வயதை அடைந்திருந்தார்கள். இதனால் மக்களிடையே தான் அனுபவித்த அவமானத்தைப் பற்றியும் எலிசபெத்து கூறினார்.
❓ Zechariah Found It Hard to Believe
The angel Gabriel told Zechariah that Elizabeth would have a son. Because they were both old, Zechariah found the message difficult to believe.
எலிசபெத்துக்கு ஒரு மகன் பிறப்பான் என்று தேவதூதனாகிய காபிரியேல் சகரியாவிடம் கூறினார். அவர்கள் இருவரும் முதிர்வயதை அடைந்திருந்ததால், அந்தச் செய்தியை நம்புவதற்குச் சகரியா தடுமாறினார்.
🤐 He Could Not Speak
Because Zechariah did not believe Gabriel’s message, he could not speak. On the day the child was named, he wrote, “His name is John.” Immediately, he was able to speak again and began praising God.
காபிரியேல் கூறிய செய்தியைச் சகரியா நம்பாததால், அவரால் பேச முடியவில்லை. குழந்தைக்குப் பெயரிடப்பட்ட நாளில், “இவன் பேர் யோவான்” என்று சகரியா எழுதினார். உடனே அவர் மீண்டும் பேசத் தொடங்கி தேவனைத் துதித்தார்.

Even faithful people can have moments of doubt. When this happens, we can return to God’s word and choose to trust Him.

Pain Does Not Always Mean Someone Has Done Wrong
Zechariah and Elizabeth were righteous before God, yet they experienced a long and difficult wait. Someone’s pain does not always mean that they have done something wrong.
சகரியாவும் எலிசபெத்தும் தேவனுக்கு முன்பாக நீதியுள்ளவர்களாக இருந்தார்கள். ஆனாலும் அவர்கள் நீண்ட, கடினமான காத்திருப்பை அனுபவித்தார்கள். ஒருவர் வேதனையை அனுபவிப்பதால், அவர் தவறு செய்திருக்கிறார் என்று எப்போதும் சொல்ல முடியாது.
Accept God’s Correction
Zechariah faced the result of his unbelief. Later, he obeyed God and used his restored voice to praise Him.
சகரியா தேவனுடைய செய்தியை நம்பாததன் விளைவைச் சந்தித்தார். பின்னர் அவர் தேவனுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்து, மீண்டும் பேச முடிந்தபோது தேவனைத் துதித்தார்.
Encourage Others
Elizabeth rejoiced with Mary and praised her for believing God’s promise. We can also use our words to strengthen someone else’s faith.

Remember God’s Greater Plan
Zechariah praised God not only for his son, but also for the salvation God was bringing to His people.

❤️ Why Are They Remembered?

They are remembered for more than receiving the child they had waited for.

God included their family in the beginning of the gospel story. Their son John was chosen to prepare people for the coming of the Lord.
